Soccer Program

The Jr Rovers soccer program is the cornerstone and foundation of the Galway Rovers Football Club. Jr Rovers is geared toward all U6 through U8 players (birth years 2014-2016).  With this program, we encourage self-confidence and build self-esteem with fun and lively training sessions. Scrimmages are designed to enhance the player development.

 

Soccer at this age should be a great learning experience, where kids have fun while developing good soccer skills. This is done with many touches on the ball (small-sided training).  Young soccer players develop faster playing in an environment that encourages maximum touches on the ball and reinforces basic skills.  This promotes creativity, risk taking, and problem solving skills.

 

Jr Rovers hold weekly sessions in the fall and spring on Mondays and Fridays from 4:00-5:15pm. Fall season starts in September and runs through mid-November.  There are no training sessions the Friday or Monday of Columbus Day weekend.  Spring season runs mid-April through mid-May. Winter indoor training sessions start in January and end mid-March. These winter sessions run every other Tuesday from 5-6pm (maximum 5 sessions). All sessions are held at Cohasset Sports Complex.
